小松市小寺町の市立丸内中学（鵜川雄一校長、生徒数３６８人）でこのほど、太陽光発電システムの稼働式があった。屋上の太陽光発電パネル前で校長や生徒会役員らがテープカットをし、体育館では生徒たちが研究発表などをして完成を祝った。
４階建ての普通教室棟屋上に１３４ワットのパネルが７５枚設置され、発電能力は計約１０キロワット。春や秋の快晴時の日中には、学校の消費電力をほぼまかなえるという。北陸電力の配電線とつなぎ、発電した電気が不足した時には北電の電気を使う仕組み。文部科学省のエネルギー教育推進事業として８００万円の補助を受けた。同市立の公共施設としては初めての設備という。
