環境省は、小中学生向けに「２００３ 子ども環境白書」の配布を始めた。環境白書（２００３年版）の内容を分かりやすく要約したもので、全国の小中学校へ一部ずつ無料で配るほか、実費販売分を含め、約六万四千部を発行する。
子ども白書は、〇三年版環境白書のテーマ「一人ひとりの環境保全の取り組み」と、地域単位の環境保全の中心となる「地域環境力」に沿い、子どもたちの生活に即した地域活動などを記載した。
また、温暖化、ごみ、化学物質などの環境問題と対策のほか、環境省の行政事務、Ｑ＆Ａなどを掲載した。
Ａ４判カラー、四〇ページ。価格は百五十円。問い合わせは、出版社の「ぎょうせい」（ＴＥＬ０３・５３４９・６６５４）へ。なお、今月中旬に環境省のホームページに掲載予定。
