第１回巨樹の森ガイドツアー ５月３日-４日
「ヤマザクラのお花見と巨樹めぐり」
○参加者１２名 男８名、女４名 (２度目の参加者は４名）

○５月３日(土）
１５時００分 森林館に集合、スケジュールの説明と簡単なレクチャーのあと宿へ移動。辰巳屋へ８名、稲村荘へ４名(夫婦２組）
夕食後、原島さん（ひつ岩）の囲炉裏を囲んで、自己紹介のあと、きき水を楽しんだ。杉並の水道水を参加者の方に持ってきてもらい、それと「南アルプスの天然水」、フランスのミネラルウオーター、日原の湧き水「万寿の水」を名前を隠して飲み比べてみた。ほとんどの方が、万寿の水がおいしいと答えた。２名ほど杉並の水がいいと答えましたが、普段飲みなれているせいでしょうか。
９時ごろ宿へもどる。

７時４５分森林館集合
ワゴン車２台に分乗して,孫惣谷の奥多摩工業の事務所下まで移動。辰巳屋のご主人の原島さんにも運転とガイドをしていただいた。
林道から孫惣谷へ下り、沢沿いに歩いていく。この日は最高の天気で、新緑がまぶしい。はじめに、あるのが孫惣谷のシオジ（幹周6ｍ）
その少し上流に、孫惣谷のカツラ(幹周8ｍ）がある。しばらく巨樹のそばで休憩してから、また林道にのぼると、トラブル発生、これから登るウトウクボに猟師が入ってしまっていた。撃たれてはしょうがないので、急遽コース変更をして、アララギ谷へ向かった。途中奥多摩工業の採掘現場でカモシカを発見。
アララギ谷は、今年の冬の強風で、倒木や折れた枝が多く、たいへん歩きづらかったが、なんとか目的地のアララギ谷のカツラと滝のところまでたどり着いた。少し遅めの昼食をとってから、付近でハンモックをつるしてのんびりしたり、湧き水でコーヒーやお茶を沸かして飲んだ。このあたりは標高が1200ｍ以上あるので芽吹きはまだでしたが、ヤマザクラやミツバツツジが満開でした。
もと来た道を引き返し３時３０に森林館へ戻ってきました。
