ニューヨーク市150か所で Wi-Fi ホットスポット稼動

Verizon (NYSE:VZ) は13日朝、ニューヨーク市内150か所に設置した Wi-Fi ホットスポットの稼動を開始した。ニューヨーク市一帯でワイヤレスインターネット接続を提供し、競合するケーブルブロードバンド企業との差別化を図る戦略の一環だ。

Verizon は年末までに、全部で1000か所のアクセスポイントを市内に設置する計画だ。ユーザーは、各ホットスポットの半径約90メートル以内から、Wi-Fi 対応ノートパソコンや PDA、ポケット PC などを通じてインターネットにワイヤレス接続できる。

日本でもマクドナルドとかスタバでWi-Fi稼動しているところがあるけれど、Yahoo! BBだけでしょ？NYCの場合はVerizonのサービスだけれど、ダメ銀行潰していいから日本中Wi-Fi設置してくれよ。まじで。
