ワイヤレスのUSB接続カメラ「QuickCam Cordless」
PC用カメラでは「QuickCam」シリーズで知られるLogitechから、ワイヤレストランスミッタを内蔵したワイヤレス仕様のPCカメラ「QuickCam Cordless」が登場した。実売価格は14,800円（詳細は「今週見つけた新製品」参照のこと）。「QuickCam Cordless」は2.4GHz帯を使用した電波式ワイヤレスPCカメラで、レシーバから最大75フィート（約23m）離れた位置での使用が可能というのが主な特徴。510×492ピクセルのCMOSセンサーを搭載し、キャプチャ機能の主な仕様は、最大ビデオ画素数が640×480ドット（静止画、動画とも）、最大フレーム数が30fpsで、フォーマットは静止画がJPEG、動画がAVIにそれぞれ対応しており、ワイヤレスながら機能面は既存のワイヤードタイプの製品と遜色ない。そのほか本体を持って利用するのに便利なシャッターボタンやファインダーなども備えている。ワイヤードタイプに比べれば価格は若干高めだが、PCカメラを自由に持ち歩いたりいろいろな位置に設置したりして使いたいと考えている人なら導入を検討する価値はありそうだ。
